When tunnel construction requirements become complex

In ground stabilization and ground improvement work during tunnel construction, precise drilling ahead of the tunnel face is critical. It stabilizes soil and rock masses and reduces the risk of settlement during excavation.
At the same time, a range of requirements must be taken into account, including limited space, varying drilling angles, and the use of different methods within a single project. Many drilling rigs are only partially suited to these conditions.

Maneuverability at challenging drilling angles

The COMACCHIO MC 15 TX was developed for applications where conventional drilling rigs reach their limits. The patented parallelogram kinematics enable flexible mast movements and precise alignment, particularly for horizontal and subhorizontal drilling.

At the same time, the drilling rig covers a wide range of applications in tunneling and special civil engineering. This facilitates work in areas where the drilling angle is critical and available space is limited.

Typical applications in tunnel construction

  • Anchor drilling
  • Pipe shield work
  • Radial drilling
  • Rock anchoring
  • Crown support
  • Support measures in the portal area
  • Jet grouting

Applications beyond tunnel construction

The joint system is designed to accommodate traditional applications in special civil engineering. These include:

  • Micropiles and anchors
  • Soil nailing
  • Drainage boreholes

The modular mast design is complemented by the rotary head of the Comacchio OMNI series. This can be adapted to various rotary and rotary-percussion drilling methods, further expanding the range of applications.

Balancing performance and consumption

The COMACCHIO MC 15 TX operates with a load-sensing hydraulic system, combined with electronic engine load management and a hydraulically operated cooling system.

This coordination ensures smooth power delivery and supports efficient operation with reduced fuel consumption.

Optional electric operation for sensitive application areas

For work in enclosed or emission-sensitive environments, a dual-motor system is available. In this configuration, the diesel-powered machine can be operated with an additional electric motor. This reduces exhaust emissions and expands the range of applications, for example in tunneling.

Compact design for tight job sites

Despite the wide range of mast positions and drilling angles, the COMACCHIO MC 15 TX retains a compact design. This simplifies transport, deployment, and setup.

Intuitive Operation

The COMACCHIO MC 15 TX comes standard with a latest-generation radio remote control. All functions can be controlled via a central console. This simplifies operation and improves visibility on the job site, especially when working in confined spaces.
